Looking After yourself

December 18, 2007

This month in the newsletter we had a great article about looking after yourself, courtesy from Anna at Beauty and Lace. Anna wrote about working from home and how important your image is to your business success- even though on some days no-one at all can see you!!

Here are some easy ways to keep motivated and look after your image:Take off those pjs!

If you feel like your image and confidence are lacking, have a shower and get dressed before you even turn on your computer. Wear clothes you feel comfortable in, but also those that make you feel good about yourself. If you want to, you can even create a uniform if it helps you get into “work mode.”Style your hair and put on some lipstick!

You don’t need to go overboard, but even if you just brush your hair and put on some lipgloss it will make you feel much better about your image.

Treat your hands and feet!

A manicure and pedicure are great ways to pamper yourself, and you can admire your new polish when typing. You deserve a treat, and even a simple coat of polish will make a huge difference.

Eat and drink better!

Nothing clears your complexion like drinking water and making healthy eating choices. Even something as simple as choosing nuts over chocolate will give you more, longer lasting energy. While grabbing a piece of cake might seem the easier option, you can always prepare snacks the night before instead of waiting until you are starving. Chopped carrot, tuna and opting for wholegrain instead of white bread will keep you fuller for longer, and change you inside and out.

Conversion

December 14, 2007

This month’s newsletter featured a section on how to convert your visitors to customers. One of the main points we covered concerned tracking of your conversions.

Do you know how many visitors you are converting into customers? If not, you need to start now!! If you don’t know what your conversion rate is, how can you increase it?

Start tracking your enquiries vs sales. Keep a spreadsheet of signups to your database vs those who actually purchased from you. Do this for at least 3 months and then you will have a good indication of your conversion rate.

Then it’s time to start improving it!! How???

Capture their details and send newsletters and special offers. Generally people will need to see something 5 times before they will act upon it.

Have special offer of some sort- Generally discounts don’t work- they only lose you valuable profits. Try a buy one get one free, or free gift with each purchase etc.

Start upselling! Bundle your products together to entice a higher sale amount.

Customer service also plays a major part in conversion- if someone can see that you are actually interested in them, they may not purchase right then and there, but they will remember you when they need your services- AND, they will send their friends to you as well!

Teleseminar

December 11, 2007

Mums in Business had their first ever teleseminar last week. We joined up with Emma Rhoades from Diva Promotions who spoke to us about moving to the next level.

She shared with us how easy it was to get started in her business, but found that after a few sales, a website, made some contacts, things just started stalling. Emma found Mums in business and told us how the resources in the members section helped her to start growing her business. Undertaking some business coaching from myself, Emma found this extremely beneficial to determine her future goals and growth.

There was some fantastic advice given and I answered a lot of questions. The feedback we received showed us that this teleseminar was a hit and you can look forward to many more in the New Year!!

Mums in Business Brisbane Christmas Event

December 7, 2007

We held our first Mums in Business Christmas event in Brisbane last week and what a huge success. The hard work had paid off as we had a fantastic day. It was great to get together with such amazing women. We did it in style with champagne and yummy food.

There was plenty of fun and plenty of amazing prizes to be won – over $2,600 worth from places like Versace, Chocoholics Anonymous, Become International, Style Your Image, Fotomasters, Girraween Environmental Lodge and the list went on. It was a bit of a shame I couldn’t win any, next time maybe. We also raised $1,700 for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation which was fantastic.

I took time out to thank a few people for all their help with Mums in Business and was suprised when Emma from Diva Promotions took time to recognise me for providing such as great networking group. This was really nice of her.
